Borussia Dortmund will host Bayern Munich in the first Der Klassiker of the 2020/21 Bundesliga season on Saturday. The kick-off is at 18:30 CET.

With 15 points after six games, Borussia and Bayern top the standings of the German top flight ahead of their head-to-head meeting on the weekend. Each club come to the encounter on the back of a four-game winning streak in the domestic league.The iconic rivals also gained confident victories in the Champions League in midweek - BVB defeated Brugge 3-0 while the Bavarians destroyed Red Bull Salzburg 6-2.

As a reminder, Bayern were victorious in their last clash with Dortmund in the German Super Cup in September (3-2) as well as in their two league meetings last season.

Each team's treatment room is filled with a few absentees ahead of Saturday's match. Dortmund's key centre-back Mats Hummels remains doubtful with a muscular issue while Emre Can, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Marcel Schmelzer will definetly miss the current Bundesliga champions' visit to Westfalenstadion.

Alphonso Davies, Leon Goretzka and Niklas Sule, meanwhile, won't help Hansi Flick's men on the weekend.

Prediction

In short, Borussia and Bayern have been on fire this season so far but their respective defensive absentees will certainly make life easier for Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski. As the latter striker has scored twice as many goals (10) as his counterpart from Dortmund (5) in the Bundesliga this term, the Bavarians will be favourites to claim all three points on Saturday.
