Simone Inzaghi's side defeated Sampdoria 1-0 at home over the weekend and thus jumped to sixth in the Serie A table, just one point adrift of their city rivals Roma who sit in fourth.
Bayern Munich, on the other hand, have suffered a dip in form of late. After winning the Club World Cup earlier this month, the reigning Bundesliga and Champions League winners have failed to win in each of their two games in the domestic league as they drew Arminia 3-3 two weeks ago before losing to Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 on Saturday. Nevertheless, the Bavarians continue to lead the Bundesliga standings with 49 points taken from 22 matches.
Silvio Proto, Luiz Felipe, Thomas Strakosha and Stefan Radu are all set to miss Tuesday's encounter for the hosts due to respective injuries.
Bayern's Douglas Costa, Corentin Tolisso, Serge Gnabry and Tanguy Nianzou also remain on the sidelines while Benjamin Pavard and Thomas Muller are unavailable through Covid-19.
