Shakhtar made the headlines last week after the Ukrainian champions defeated Real Madrid 3-2 away in their CL group stage opener. What makes that win even more sensational is that Shakhtar lacked a half of their first-team squad in the Spanish capital due to the Covid-19 outbreak among their ranks. Luis Castro's men, however, failed to beat Vorskla in the domestic championship (1-1) after their heroics in Europe.

Inter, in turn, were lucky to claim a last-gasp 2-2 draw against Borussia Monchengladbach in their opening Group B encounter. Despite a rather disappointing start to the Champions League campaign, Antonio Conte's side will travel to Ukraine on the back of a 2-0 victory over Genoa in the Serie A over the weekend.

Ismaily and Yevhen Konoplyanka continue to be long-term absentees in Shakhtar's squad while Serhiy Kryvtsov, Viktor Kovalenko and Junior Moraes are not yet ready to feature for Castro's side.

The Nerazzurri, for their part, will be without Matias Vecino, Milan Skriniar and Roberto Gagliardini in Kyiv. Alexis Sanchez remains a doubt with a thigh injury.

Inter destroyed Shakhtar 5-0 in the Europa League semi-final in August. That outcome is very unlikely to repeat itself this time around but Conte's men will definetly not underestimate the Ukrainian outfit after what they did in Madrid. What's more, the Nerazzurri badly need points following their opening draw vs Gladbach.
