After finishing top of the Group B, beating Russia, Denmark and Finland in the process, Belgium went on to confirm their status as one of the favourites of this summer's European Championship by defeating the reining title holders Portugal 1-0 in the last-16 round on Sunday. Italy, for their part, also topped their Euro group by defeating Turkey, Switzerland and Wales while conceding as few as zero goals. Still, the Azzurri managed to make it to the last-8 stage thanks to extra-time goals from Federico Chiesa and Matteo Pessina (2-1).

Even though Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne limped off the pitch in the Portugal win, both Belgian stars are set to start in Munich. Simon Mignolet and Timothy Castagne, meanwhile, withdrew from the Belgium squad earlier through respective injury woes. Italy's Alessandro Florenzi hasn't featured at the tournament due to a calf problem while their captain Giorgio Chiellini sat out the Austria win with a muscle issue. The latter is expected to return to the starting XI on Friday.

Both sides have some incredible record to boast ahead of their decisive head-to-head meeting as Italy are now on a 31-match unbeaten run across all competitions while Belgium have found the back of the net in each of their last 34 fixtures, while claiming 23 victories in the previous 27 encounters. Sasa Kalajdzic's goal on Saturday, however, put an end to the Azzurri's 11-game clean-sheet streak and we do expect Martinez's men to do the same in the opening 90 minutes at the Allianz Arena. Belgium's back-three of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Thomas Vermaelen, meanwhile, have a combined age of 101 years of old so it also wouldn't be a huge surprise if Italy manage to fire the ball past Thibaut Courtois at least once in Munich.
