Northern Ireland and Slovakia will take on each other in Belfast on Thursday to decide who will participate at next summer's European Championship. The kick-off is at 20:45 CET.

Northern Ireland and Slovakia defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina and Republic of Ireland on penalties respectively to secure their spots in the final playoff clash of the Euro 2021 qualifying campaign last month.

Either side, however, lost each of their two Nations League games during October's international break. What's more, both teams have failed to claim a win in any of their five matches in normal time this year so far.

Matty Kennedy and Corry Evans are the only injury absentees in Ian Baraclough's squad while Jonny Evans is set to start on Thursday despite suffering a knock to his back over the weekend.

Marek Hamsik and Milan Skriniar are expected to start for Stefan Tarkovic's side as Slovakia's caretaker has a fully fit team at his disposal.

Prediction

Despite earning a place in the Euro 2021 qualifying playoff final tie, Pavel Hapal was sacked by the Slovakian FA following last month's Nations League defeats at the hands of Scotland and Israel. Thus, we'd say that Northern Ireland's experienced side have a little advantage over the Slovaks to make it to the upcoming European Championship.
