Borussia Monchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund will face off in the German Cup quarter-final on Tuesday. The kick-off is at 20:45 CET.

Two Borussias will meet each other for the third time this season this week, just five weeks after Gladbach's 4-2 win over Dortmund at Borussia-Park in the league. That was a sweet revenge for the Colts for the 3-0 loss at Westfalenstadion in September.

Gladbach have only won once in all competitions since beating BVB in January and will play hosts to Edin Terzic's men on the back of three consecutive defeats, including Saturday's 3-2 loss at RB Leipzig. The Colts' recent misfortunes have certainly been influenced by the fact that their current manager Marco Rose will take over at Dortmund at the end of the season.

BVB, on the other hand, have managed to impove their results lately and will travel to their local rivals after three victories on the bounce, including the 3-0 thrashing of Arminia over the weekend.

While Stefan Lainer and Tony Jantschke are unavailable for the hosts due to injuries, their top goalscorer Lars Stindl is suspended for this one.

Dortmund, meanwhile, will be without Manuel Akanji, Marcel Schmelzer, Axel Witsel and Thomas Delaney.

Prediction

Considering Gladbach's current awful form and BVB's recent rise, we'd say that Dortmund are more than likely to reach the German Cup semi-final this season. What makes Terzic's side even stronger favourites this time around is an incredible form of Erling Haaland who has scored 43 goals in 44 appearances for BVB since joining the club in January 2020.
