Atletico's title ambitions had been put in doubt after their defeat in the Madrid derby to Real earlier this month but Diego Simeone's men have managed to prove their critics wrong by back-to-back league victories over Elche and Real Sociedad since then. Ahead of their final La Liga match in 2020, Atleti top the table with 32 points and with two games in hand over their city rivals from the Santiago Bernabeu.
Getafe, meanwhile, have been struggling throughout the 2020/21 Spanish top-flight campaign as they've registered just four wins in their 14 matches so far. What's more, Jose Bordalas' side have won just once in their last nine league games.
Sime Vrsaljko is likely to replace Kieran Trippier in the starting XI on Wednesday as the Englishman has been suspended until the start of March due to breaching betting regulations. Diego Costa, meanwhile, won't play for Atletico again this season as the club accepted his request to terminate his contract on Tuesday.
Allan Nyom, Damian Suarez and Erick Cabaco are all unavailable for the visitors due to suspensions.
