Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad will face off in the La Liga matchday 36 on Wednesday. The kick-off is at 22:00 CET.

Atletico could've lost their lead in the Spanish top flight after sharing points (0-0) with Barcelona at Camp Nou on Saturday. Real Madrid, however, drew Sevilla 2-2 the following day and thus failed to leapfrog their city rivals at the top of the league table. With three games to go this season, Diego Simeone's men are still two points ahead of Real and Barca who sit in second and third respectively.
The first and arguably the most difficult test for Atleti comes in a home encounter with fifth-placed Sociedad who claimed a confident 2-0 win at Elche last Friday. Imanol Alguacil have lost any chance for the top-four finish this term but continue to battle for the fifth spot with Villarreal and Betis, being four and five points ahead of their rivals respectively. Betis, on the contrary, could reduce the gap to just two points as they have a game in hand over Sociedad.
Team news
Thomas Lemar suffered a muscle injury against Barca and is likely to miss the upcoming fixture while La Real will travel to the Spanish capital without Luca Sangalli and Carlos Fernandez. Mikel Merino and Aihen Munoz, meanwhile, remain doubtful for the visitors.
Prediction
Atletico need to take all nine remaining points this season to secure their status as the 2020/21 La Liga champions - their first title since 2014. Simeone's side have experienced a rather mixed run of form of late with fatigue being one of the most obvious reasons behind that. Given that Atleti easily defeated Sociedad 2-0 in the reverse league fixture in December, we'd go for the hosts' narrow victory this time around too.
