Italy and Spain will go head-to-head in the 2020/21 Nations League semi-final at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday. The kick-off is at 20:45 CEST.

Preview

It's been exactly three months since Italy defeated Spain on penalties in the Euro 2020 semi-final at Wembley to later scoop the continental crown in their clash with England in the tournament's final. Now Roberto Mancini's side and Luis Enrique's men will be aiming to book themselves a spot in the NL final where they'll take on either Belgium or France who will lock horns on Thursday.

Gli Azzurri and La Roja have experinced rather disappointing spells in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers since their previous head-to-head meeting. Even though Italy managed to extend their unbeaten streak across all competitions to 37 matches after last month's WC qualifying encounters, Mancini's crop were held to back-to-back draws with Bulgaria (1-1) and Switzerland (0-0) before destroying Lithuania 5-0 in their most recent fixture on September 8.

Spain, in turn, suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Sweden in their first post-Euro 2020 encounter but have gone on to bounce back against Georgia (4-0) and Kosovo (2-0) in the following two matches last month.

Team news

Ciro Immobile is the biggest injury loss for the hosts while Marcos Llorente, Thiago Alcantara, Dani Olmo, Pedri and Alvaro Morata won't be involved for the visitors on Wednesday through the same reason.

Prediction

Even if Mancini's side will be without their first-choice striker Immobile this time around, there will be the likes of Moise Kean and Domenico Berardi to replace the Lazio hitman at the Giuseppe Meazza. Enrique, on the contrary, doesn't have any genuine striker to fill in the gap left by injured Morata in this semi-final with Ferran Torres likely to be deployed as a false nine instead. Thus, we can't see a goal fest taking place in Milan on Wednesday. Moreover, the list of La Roja's injury absentees is way longer than the one of Gil Azzurri, so let's also back the latter side to go unbeaten in their 38th match on the bounce too, especially given the fact that Spain have failed to beat Italy on their turf for over 50 years now.

Tip

Italy not to lose and total under 2.5 at 2.05 with 1XBET.
