Manchester United will host Aston Villa in their first Premier League match in 2021 on Friday. The kick-off is at 20:00 GMT.

United will take on the Villans at Old Trafford on the back of a last-gasp 1-0 victory over Wolves on Tuesday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has constantly been linked with an exit from the club throughout the 2020/21 season but the Red Devils have managed to improve their form lately. In fact, United are on a nine-game run without a defeat in the league ahead of Villa's visit to Manchester.

Dean Smith's side, for their part, have also been in an excellent form of late as they haven't suffered a loss in the Premier League in five consecutive matches, including Monday's 1-1 draw at Chelsea.

United and Villa come into their head-to-head meeting sitting in second and 5th in the league standings respectively with the visitors having a game in hand over Ole's men.

Victor Lindelof remains the only injury doubt in the Red Devils' squad while Tyrone Mings is set to return to the Villans' starting line-up after serving a one-game suspension.

Prediction

Aston Villa look more than capabale of causing trouble for United after drawing Frank Lampard's men earlier this week. The Red Devils, on the other hand, have much more depth and quality in their squad to start the new year with a win over their in-form opponents.
