Serie A: Roma vs Inter Milan preview, team news, prediction and tips
December 3

Roma and Inter Milan will lock horns in the Serie A matchday 16 at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday. The kick-off is at 19:00 CEST.

While many Roma fans certainly hoped for the their side to challenge the 2021/22 Serie A title following Jose Mourinho's appointment this summer, little has really changed since Paulo Fonseca's reign in the Italian capital. The Giallorossi had recently produced a three-game winning streak across all competitions, including a 1-0 win over Torino last weekend but have gone on to suffer a 1-0 defeat at Bologna on Wednesday to find themselves in fifth in the league table with 25 points ahead of their clash with the reigning champions.

Inter, for their part, have extended their unbeaten streak to 10 games following back-to-back 2-0 wins against Venezia and Spezia over the last week. Thus, Simone Inzaghi's crop continue their battle with Napoli, Milan and Atalanta to keep the Scudetto in their offices for another year, sitting in third in the standings just two points adrift of the Parthenopeans and nine points ahead of their forthcoming opponents.

Team news

While Felix Afena-Gyan and Gonzalo Villar will play no part for the hosts on Saturday after testing positive for Covid-19 lately, Bryan Cristante is unavailable through a suspension. Leonardo Spinazzola and Lorenzo Pellegrini, in turn, remain on the sidelines for Roma. Matteo Darmian, Andrea Ranocchia and Stefan de Vrij, meanwhile, will miss out on Saturday for the Nerazzurri due to respective injury woes.

As Roma have failed to beat Inter in their previous eight head-to-head meetings since 2017 and their current form has been far from its best since the start of the season, we can't really envisage Mourinho's crop putting an end to his former side's incredible unbeaten streak this time around. What's more, the Nerazzurri will travel to the Stadio Olimpico on the back of three consecutive clean sheets, so we wouldn't be surprised to see Inter keeping another one on Saturday.
